Blue Diamonds
What Is A Blue Diamond?
Blue diamonds are undeniably special, reflecting the beloved tones of sky and sea through radiant sparkle. The most famous gemstone in the world, the 45.52ct. Hope Diamond, is a gray-blue diamond renowned for its beauty and size. So, how are these unique diamonds made? White diamonds are made exclusively of carbon atoms, so when another element enters the crystal structure it changes the diamond. When that element is boron, the diamond becomes blue! That’s because boron absorbs yellow light and reflects blue light. While a natural blue diamond is one of the rarest gemstones on earth, replicating this process in a lab has made blue diamonds much more accessible and affordable. Just like with each of our other colored diamonds, founder and designer Melanie Casey expertly sources each blue diamond in our collection for striking color and excellent quality. You can see all of our available blue diamond pieces in our Blue Diamond Collection. Interested in learning what design element Melanie finds most inspiring for a blue diamond engagement ring? Melanie’s Favorite Blue Diamond Rings

Winter Blues
One of our most beloved engagement rings, the Snowdrift Ring is perfect for a blue diamond. Inspired by a gentle snowfall, the Snowdrift Ring features leveled accent stones of different sizes. Because the diamond accents sit at different heights, they seem to drift weightlessly along the band like snow flurries. Centering a frosty blue diamond in the Snowdrift Ring heightens this winter inspiration, evoking the stillness that falls alongside a veil of drifting snow. This blue diamond engagement ring features a marquise cut, its dramatic edges culminating in icy angles. The side stones catch the light like snowflakes as the deep blue focal diamond anchors the composition like a freshly frozen lake.
Bold Bezels
It’s no secret that designer Melanie Casey adores a bezel set engagement ring. The bezel setting works particularly well for colored diamond engagement rings because the metal framework creates contrast, emphasizing the color of the focal diamond. When designing a bezel set engagement ring, it’s important to consider how the metal will complement the focal diamond. A blue diamond works well with both yellow and white gold because while white gold underscores the cool tones in a blue diamond, yellow gold provides a complementary contrast. Melanie set this round cut blue-green diamond into our Moonrise Ring. Because yellow and blue are complementary colors, the yellow gold helps the blue diamond pop. The bezel engagement rings in our collection are unlike rings you’ll see elsewhere, incorporating intricate and dynamic elements that set Melanie’s designs apart. The Moonrise Ring is no exception. The puffy bezel setting extends beyond the focal diamond, framing the side stones. Hidden diamonds are tucked behind the bold setting, bringing subtle sparkle to an often overlooked angle.

Dainty Details
While blue diamonds are remarkable all on their own, Melanie’s never one to say no to more diamonds! If you’re looking for the understated beauty of a solitaire with a little something extra, this is the place for you. A blue diamond ring with dainty details allows the one of a kind focal stone to stand out while complementing with small accent diamonds or intricate metalwork. The Poppyseed Ring features three small accent diamonds on either side of the focal stone, echoing outward from the blue diamond center like ripples in the water. Similar to the Poppyseed Ring, the Trestle Ring features small accent diamonds on either side of the focal. The difference is this ring also includes a delicate twist in the band, adding texture and movement to the composition.
One of a Kind
Some of Melanie’s colored diamond engagement rings demand a design all their own. When a blue diamond sparks inspiration, Melanie creates something new! Sometimes bold, sometimes delicate, always never before seen, Melanie’s collection of one of a kind engagement rings spans the spectrum of her collection and offers something truly unique. The Balladeer Ring is a contemporary solitaire, featuring an elongated emerald cut blue diamond set along a razor band. By centering a blue diamond, this unique engagement ring becomes one of a kind.
