How to Care for Your Jewelry
Caring for Your Jewelry
Your fine jewelry is not only an investment, but sentimental, and often worn daily. While regular wear and tear is to be expected, with proper attention and maintenance, you can confidently care for your jewelry, ensuring the beauty of your future heirloom.
Always remove your jewelry if it could be exposed to chemicals of any kind:
- Cleaning products
- Lotions
- Most soaps
- Makeup
- Chlorine
Organic gemstones like pearls and opals are especially sensitive to chemicals.
Remove your jewelry before sleeping.
Remove your jewelry before showering and swimming.
Remove your jewelry before any activity that could knock, scratch, or dent your jewelry: exercising, yardwork or gardening, cleaning, or lifting heavy objects. If you aren’t sure whether removing your jewelry is required, best to be safe and store it.
Always store your jewelry in a safe location, away from other pieces of jewelry which could rub, scratch, or tangle. Preferably, store your fine jewelry in a fabric-lined box or case.
Clean your jewelry regularly with warm (not hot or boiling) water, gentle soap (we recommend blue dish soap), and a soft toothbrush. Dry gently with a microfiber cloth.
Opals are especially fragile. We recommend taking extra-special care of opals. Do not put them in an ultrasonic machine for cleaning. Our warranty does not cover opals.
