The Flapper Ring was the first iteration of this design, with the signature Snowdrift cluster on one side, an emerald cut diamond on the other, and the original closed basket style. The "Symmetrical Flapper Ring" was first introduced by custom order in 2016. It had a closed basket style (our signature at the time) because we used a casting technique that required the closed basket for structural reasons. We combined wax carving techniques with silicone molds and wax injections to reproduce our original design, before the technology of 3D printing opened up a new world of possibilities. 2016 was also the year we released another fan favorite: the Petite Diamond Distance Band! In 2018, we officially launched the closed-basket version of the Snowdrift Ring, Round Cut.

In 2019, we began utilizing high-tech 3D printing techniques, which allowed us to release our first collection of open basket solitaire settings. This included our signature Whisper, Threaded, and Filament Ring designs. Product development began on the open basket version of Snowdrift, working through various cuts and carat sizes and accepting custom orders. In 2021, the Snowdrift Ring was officially added to our permanent collection in its current form in both oval and round cuts! By the end of 2022, the Snowdrift Ring was available in all diamond cuts and carat sizes, with the option to choose your band’s thickness.

While it's inspired a few additions to its own collection, the Snowdrift Ring has inspired countless other Melanie Casey designs with its unique composition and weightless movement. The leveled diamonds, popularized by the Snowdrift Ring, have appeared in diamond halos, hidden diamonds, and clusters of engagement rings, not to mention our wedding bands and other fine jewelry. With a delicate meander, the Snowdrift Ring has made a major mark on our collection, and we can’t wait to continue to surprise you with this gentle snowfall’s lasting impact.
