About Champagne Diamonds

What Is A Champagne Diamond?
A champagne diamond is beloved for its antique sepia-like tone that spans a spectrum from yellow to brown. While some champagne diamonds are considered fancy and exhibit deeper colors like the other fancy diamonds (yellow, pink, blue, and green), lighter champagne diamonds are graded on the same color scale as white diamonds. White diamonds are graded on a scale according to their colorlessness with D being the most colorless and Z being the least. While diamonds graded a D through J are considered colorless or mostly colorless, any diamond with a color grade of K-Z is considered a champagne diamond due to the faint yellow and/or brown tones present in the stone. A champagne diamond is made the same as a yellow diamond: through nitrogen impurities in the crystal structure. This process occurs naturally and can be replicated in a lab. Founder and designer Melanie Casey is an expert in sourcing diamonds and gemstones, and hand-selets each champagne diamond for unique color and exceptional quality. While you can find all our champagne diamond engagement rings in the Champagne Diamond Collection, Melanie has a few favorite design elements to use when designing a champagne diamond engagement ring. Melanie’s Favorite Champagne Diamond Rings
Add a Halo
Like a bezel setting, a halo frames the focal stone drawing eyes to the center. While a bezel frames in metal, a halo engagement ring frames the focal stone in diamonds, bringing brilliant white contrast to a champagne diamond ring. Melanie’s halo engagement rings incorporate the same design elements as our clusters, using leveled settings and unique stone configurations to bring dynamic movement to the ring. The halo of the Harbor Ring includes negative space between each accent diamond so the diamonds appear to be radiating outward from the focal stone like rays of light. Melanie loves centering a champagne diamond within a halo, like the Harbor Ring shown here, because the proximity between the white diamond accents and the champagne focal diamond highlights the champagne diamond’s antique warmness, causing this champagne diamond ring to light up like the sun.

Set it on a Diamond Band
A diamond band engagement ring is exactly what it sounds like, an engagement ring that features a diamond-encrusted band! Designer Melanie’s diamond band engagement rings go beyond the classic pave, including braided metalwork, unique stone cuts, negative space, and movement to make the pave band her own. Setting a champagne diamond on a pave band is a picture-perfect combination because of, you guessed it, contrast! The small white diamond accents allow the warm undertones present in a champagne diamond to shine more strongly. The Starboard Ring adds to the classic pave engagement ring by incorporating delicately contoured double prongs surrounding the focal stone. This classic engagement ring silhouette with a champagne diamond makes for a timelesscomposition with a touch of the antique.
One of a Kind
The soft, antique brilliance of champagne diamonds sometimes sparks innovation! On more than one occasion, a colored diamond inspires Melanie to create a new design specifically for that unique diamond. Some one of a kind engagement rings might feature different iterations, but some are truly only ever made once. Melanie’s one of a kind colored diamond engagement rings incorporate elements that span the collection but they all have one thing in common: they’re unlike anything else. With the To A Flame Ring, the sprinkling of white diamond accents brings bright white diamond sparkle to the warm glow of a champagne diamond.
