Return and Exchange Information

Items under $1500 (not altered nor upgraded)

Return: 15% restocking fee
Exchange: No exchange fee, must be within 30 days of delivery

  • Shipping will not be refunded for returns nor exchanges.
  • Shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer for any returns, exchanges, or services.
  • All original packaging and paperwork is required for returns or exchanges. Otherwise, surcharges will apply.
  • No warranty is available on center stones with a replacement value over $500. If you plan to privately insure your ring, an appraisal can be requested at the time of purchase for no additional fee.
  • To international buyers (outside of the US): If your package is returned to us because you either were not able to be contacted at the time of delivery, or if you refuse to pay your country's import fees, you will receive a refund for your order LESS the shipping fee, LESS the import fee (if we were charged for it), and LESS the restocking fee for the item(s) you ordered.
  • To domestic buyers (within the US): If your package is returned to us because you were not able to be contacted at the time of delivery, you will receive a refund for your order LESS the shipping fee and LESS the restocking fee for the item(s) you ordered.

 

Order Information

Payment

We require payment in full before production can begin, and before jewelry can be shipped.

  • Accepted forms of payment on melaniecasey.com: All major credit cards, and PayPal
  • We do not accept wire transfers nor personal checks.

Production Time

Please refer to our published production times here for an accurate turnaround time estimate. Custom designs require at least 4-6 weeks for production, not including consultation time nor shipping time. RUSH orders are completed faster than our typical turnaround, but must be approved ahead of placing your order.

Metal & Finish Options

We work in solid 14k gold.

  • Most items in the collection are available in either 14k white, yellow or rose gold.
  • Some select items are only available in one metal color.
  • Most items can be made with either a bright shiny polish or a brushed matte finish.

Sizing Options

We offer two great sizing tools that we highly recommend using before we make your jewelry.

  • Free plastic sizer - A plastic US sizing belt that is great for finding your general measurement. This is ideal for all clients. Request a free sizer here.
  • Perfect Fit sizer – A sterling silver sizer that is our highly recommended tool to best ensure that your jewelry will fit perfectly on the first try. Order your Perfect Fit sizer here.
    • Perfect Fit sizers can be returned to us to recycle, and we’ll refund you for the value of your sizer(s) – less shipping.

Packaging

  • Your Melanie Casey jewelry will be packaged securely for shipment.
  • A receipt will be included in the box for reference to the order number and some order details, however no pricing information is indicated here.
  • Your jewelry will come gift-wrapped in a branded Melanie Casey jewelry box and pouch.
  • Orders over $100 will receive an official Melanie Casey Certificate of Authenticity.

Shipping

The buyer is responsible for shipping costs to and from our studio.

  • Domestic Orders (in the US)
    • Shipping options: Free USPS First Class (3-5 business days), USPS Priority Mail (2-3 business days), UPS 2-Day (2 full business days).
    • If you live in a busy city, apartment, an adult (21+) signature will be required upon delivery.
  • International Orders (outside the US)
    • Shipping options: USPS First Class International (2-5 weeks) for orders valued under $400, FedEx Priority International (2-5 business days).
    • International packages are fully insured.
    • Some countries require VAT/import fees at customs before delivery can be completed. The buyer is solely responsible for these fees.
  • The buyer is responsible for providing a reliable, secure shipping address.
  • We will *not* ship to a hotel or to a non-permanent address.

 

Upgrade Options

Band Upgrade Options

We offer band upgrades for our regular stacking ring and mini cluster ring collection.

  • For our regular single gemstone stacking rings (which by default come with 0.95mm bands), upgrades to 1.2mm, 1.5mm and 1.65mm are available for an additional fee per ring.
  • For our mini cluster rings (which by default come with 1.2mm bands), upgrades to 1.5mm are available for an additional fee per ring.
  • By opting to upgrade your ring band, please know that this is considered an Altered Design. Altered Designs can be returned or exchanged if necessary in most cases, however restocking fees will apply.

Diamond Upgrade Options

Most of our diamond rings can be upgraded upon request.

  • Additional fees will apply to upgrade diamonds.
  • Upgrading the quality of diamonds in one of our current designs (not changing the diamond size) is considered an Altered Design. Altered Designs can be returned or exchanged for a fee, unless the piece has been declared a Final Sale item.
  • Changing a current design by requesting diamonds of a different size or cut is considered a Custom Design, and is Final Sale.

Engraving

We work with an independent professional that engraves by hand.

  • Engraving inside or outside a band requires at least 2mm of flat space.
  • Additional fees will apply, depending on how much engraving is needed.
  • Not all engraving projects can be accepted.
  • All jewelry with engraving cannot be exchanged nor returned.
  • Engraving will add on an additional 2-3 weeks to our normal production time.

Custom Designs

At this time, we are *not* accepting custom design requests.

Some exceptions:

  • We may accept requests to alter an existing engagement ring design - the minimum for such a request is $5000 usd. There are limitations to what we can change about our designs, so we will not accept all projects.
  • Some of our current designs do have options to be somewhat altered with your choice of stones - to see what designs are available for alteration, search the word "Builder" on our website. We cannot alter the design setting, stone orientation, nor stone size. Please note that some gemstones may not be available - the gemstones that are listed in our builder listings are what are available for that particular design.

 

Additional Services

RUSH Orders

We do accept RUSH order requests - email us at rush@melaniecasey.com. We will not be able to accept all RUSH requests, but we will do our best to accommodate.

  • RUSH fees will apply to prioritize the order ahead of our normal production time.
  • Express shipping is required for any RUSH order, and is the responsibility of the buyer.
  • Any orders placed through a builder listing cannot be expedited.

Resizing/Refinishing/Repair Services

We will always resize, refinish, and repair your Melanie Casey jewelry.

  • We offer a 3 year warranty for your Melanie Casey jewelry. We will service your jewelry for free for up to 3 years of your purchase date. Some exclusions apply.
  • If you have taken your Melanie Casey jewelry to another jeweler for service, this voids our normal warranty.
  • Repair, resizing, and refinishing services are non-transferable. If services are requested by someone other than the original buyer, a fee will apply.
  • No warranty is available on center stones valued over $500.
  • Always contact us right away if your Melanie Casey jewelry becomes damaged.
  • Eternity bands require a 30% resizing fee.
  • We will resize your ring one time, without a service fee. Resize requests must be made within 6 months of order delivery. A resizing fee will apply, if the request falls outside of these parameters.
  • The buyer is responsible for shipping to and from our studio.

Payment Plans

At this time, we do *not* offer payment plans. In the future, however, we may offer financing options - so stay tuned!

Jewelry Care

To keep your jewelry in great condition, we recommend:

  • Removing all jewelry before being exposed to chemicals of any kind (including cleaning chemicals, lotions, soaps and make up), before swimming, showering, or exercising, before doing outdoor work or gardening, and before heavy lifting.
  • Clean your jewelry regularly using warm water, gentle soap, and a soft toothbrush.
  • Store your jewelry in a soft pouch or padded jewelry box.

Wholesale & Consignment

We do sell wholesale to select worldwide stockists who we believe share our vision and aesthetic. Buyers interested in becoming an authorized retailer are encouraged to apply. Not all applications will be accepted at this time. We do *not* accept consignment or dropship opportunities. Find out more on our Wholesale Information Page

Appraisals

If you plan to privately insure your Melanie Casey jewelry, an appraisal can be requested at the time of your jewelry purchase for no additional fee. Appraisals are available for pieces valued at $1000 usd and up. An appraisal must be requested within one year of purchase date, or fees may apply.

 

Additional Policies

Exchanges

We do accept exchanges, excluding custom designs and Final Sale items.

  • We will accept exchanges for unworn items that were purchased from our regular collection under $1500 usd, without withholding any restocking fee.
  • Original designs from the collection that were altered for your order (ie. band upgrades, swapped stones, etc.) can be exchanged, however there will be a 30% restocking fee.
  • For items over $1500 usd, there will be a 30% restocking fee charged if an exchange is requested.
  • Custom designs and Final Sale items cannot be exchanged.
  • The buyer is responsible for shipping to and from our studio.
  • Shipping fees cannot be refunded for exchanges.
  • Limit one exchange per order.
  • Exchange requests must be made within 30 days of delivery.

Returns & Restocking Fees

We do accept returns. We charge restocking fees for all returns, and some items are Final Sale.

  • Returns must be made within 30 days of the date that the buyer receives the item in the mail.
  • Refunds for returns will be issued only once the jewelry has been returned to our studio.
  • All returned items must be in new, unworn condition.
  • All returns must be sent back to us in the original packaging, or surcharges will apply.
  • Tier 1 – 15% restocking fee. This includes most items in the collection, valued under the specified dollar value.
  • Tier 2 – 30% restocking fee. This includes some items in the collection such as eternity bands, items over a specified dollar value, and original designs from the collection that have been altered (band upgrades, swapped stones, etc.) specifically for your order.
  • Tier 3 – Final Sale. This includes custom and sale items. These items cannot be returned.
  • The buyer is responsible for return shipping to our studio.
  • Shipping fees cannot be refunded for returns.

Canceling an Order

If you need to cancel your open order, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. Email orders@melaniecasey.com.

  • Cancellation requests must be requested within 7 business days of order placement, for all made to order jewelry. Ready to ship items must be cancelled prior to shipment.
  • We will refund you in full for your cancelled order, however all deposits, rush fees, and partial payments made through layaway are non-refundable.

Deposits & Partial Payments

  • A deposit is required to place an item in our collection on hold.
  • Deposits are required for custom designs.
  • All deposits and partial payments are non-refundable.
