Holiday 2020 Ordering Deadline and Black Friday Announcement

Just like every business, large and small, Melanie Casey has had to make some big changes as we adjust to the new normal of operating in a COVID world. Our team has worked from home, our production process has changed, and our production timelines have been extended. We are grateful that we’ve been able to weather the storm, and we plan to continue to create jewelry, albeit a bit more slowly.

Because of all these changes - increased demand for our pieces and an ever-growing backlog of orders in the queue - we have had to make two very difficult decisions as we look to the upcoming holiday season. The first is our deadline for holiday orders, and the second is our plan for Black Friday.

In order to ensure that we are able to create your jewelry in time to have it delivered to you by December 24, 2020, the deadline for placing holiday orders is October 26, 2020. We know this is early, and we wanted to let you know as soon as it was decided so you can plan your gift-giving accordingly. We wish we could extend the deadline as we have in years past, but with COVID precautions and changes, we are simply not able to guarantee holiday delivery for orders placed after October 26. This deadline is the same for international and domestic purchases. Orders placed after the deadline will be delivered in early 2021.

The second big decision is that we will not be holding a sale for Black Friday this year. Frankly, this decision will be tough on our bottom line. Black Friday sales have historically been very popular for us, and we’ve come to expect those sales each year. The popularity means revenue, but it also therefore means a HUGE influx of orders each year, which has our team scrambling even in “normal” times. We’ve decided to forgo the sales in favor of our team’s mental health and ability to enjoy the holiday season. We don’t ever prioritize profit over people, and with the challenges of COVID, a big sale would be too much of a burden on our team.

The ethical code we abide by here at Melanie Casey extends well beyond ethical sourcing and slow fashion processes. Our team is our first priority, so we are choosing this for them.

We look forward to being a part of your holiday again, even as the season starts a bit early for us this year!
